Participation Summary at the DeAI Society Event: Building the New Internet
At the recent DeAI Society event "Building the New Internet," visionary founders, builders, and investors, gathered to shape the future of composable decentralized AI and the New Internet stack. Among the group was Matthias Knauth, Head of Product at Vana, who gave an exciting presentation. The event featured curated talks, working groups, dinners, and other activities, all contributing to a documentary about the builders of the New Internet.
The discussions centered around several key themes. The exponential increase in machine intelligence, or AI, was a focal point, highlighting the rapid advancements and potential of artificial general intelligence. Trusted global information systems, underpinned by Web3 technologies, were also a significant theme, emphasizing the importance of secure and reliable information networks. The synthesis of decentralized AI and Web3 paradigms aims to merge the best elements of both to create a decentralized AI aligned with human values, preferences, and intelligence.
The New Internet stack, as envisioned by participants, comprises several innovative elements and components. These include agent centricity, proto-apps, AI protocol, verifiable data, API composability, distributed modularity, agentic workflows, verifiable computing, consumer GPU acceleration, abstract computing markets, mechanism design, and creative networks.
During his talk at the event, Matthias announced the launch of Vana's testnet, the first Layer 1 blockchain designed specifically for user-owned data. He highlighted the critical need to return full control of data to users, making it both portable and monetizable. Matthias also demonstrated Vana's Satori Testnet, showcasing how users can upload encrypted personal data through an intuitive interface while maintaining control and ownership of their data. He illustrated the transparency of the system by showing the block explorer, where these data transactions are written on-chain for validation. The process of data validation was explained by introducing Vana’s novel proof-of-contribution mechanism and the subsequent writing of results on-chain.
This event underscored the convergence of AI and Web3 paradigms, emphasizing the need for a decentralized movement aligned with human values. The insights and innovations presented at "Building the New Internet" paint a promising picture of a future where decentralized, user-controlled AI drives personalization and efficiency in digital interactions, ushering in a new era of digital empowerment.
