The Vana Cup Is On

The competition has only just begun.

The Vana Cup is a three-week building competition with a prize pool of over 7,000 VANA. The pool starts at 7,000 and climbs with network activity. At the final whistle the champion takes 5,000 VANA plus everything the pool has accrued, and second through fifth take 500 VANA each.

Entering is simple: go to builders.vana.org. Everything is there, the live leaderboard, the rules, the countdown to the final whistle on 18 August, and step-by-step instructions for shipping a data app on Vana mainnet and getting it on the table.

Why we are running it

Your data should be yours. Vana's data portability API, now live on mainnet, makes that real: you can bring your data to any application, on your terms. For builders, that means full user context, brought directly into your app by the users themselves. Consented, complete, ready to build on.

The best way to understand it is to build on it, and the Cup is your excuse to ship your very own data app. A launch like this deserves more than a changelog entry. So we are throwing a tournament.

Vana rewards team players

Scoring is simple.

A goal, one point: a new person connects their data through your app.

An assist, two points: the data your app brought in gets used by another application.

Goals get you on the board. But the real MVPs are the playmakers, the builders whose users take their data across the network. Assists count double because the network wins when data moves. The champion is the builder who did the most for everyone else. And every point on the table is consent in action: a real person choosing where their data goes.

The pool climbs while you play

The pool grows 0.01 VANA with every data transaction on the network, and all of that growth goes to the champion. The number at builders.vana.org ticks up live.

How to get started

Everything starts at builders.vana.org. Generate your own app with the guided generator, or build with whatever vibe coding tool you like. Anyone can build a Vana app.

Stuck on something? docs.vana.org has the answers, and the Vana Discord at discord.gg/vanaofficial is where the community trades tips and troubleshooting. Our engineers are also running live build sessions there twice a week for the length of the Cup: Wednesdays 07:00 UTC for Asia-Pacific, Thursdays 16:00 UTC for the US and Europe. The best walkthroughs get edited and published to YouTube as developer resources.

Fair play

To appear on the leaderboard you need a live app on mainnet and a completed listing with a name, a logo, and a website. No logo, no leaderboard. builders.vana.org walks you through it. Builders must be 18 or over; US persons and sanctioned parties are not eligible.

The top of the table is reviewed by hand. Self-dealing between your own apps, bots, fake data, and duplicate entries all draw a red card, and the referee's decision is final. Before you enter, read the full terms at builders.vana.org/#terms: they cover eligibility, scoring, red cards, and how the prize pool pays out.

The final whistle

18 August 2026, 23:59 UTC. The referee confirms the table, and the champion lifts the Cup.
