New VANA Member Benefit: Employment Contract Reviews
I am happy to announce a new and valuable benefit available to VANA members: Two well-known health care law firms in Virginia have offered to provide legal guidance regarding CRNA employment contracts for those CRNAs who are members of VANA.
Nurse Anesthetists: Improving the landscape of healthcare safety
The Institute of Medicine’s 2001 landmark publication, To Err Is Human, focused national attention on the matter of patient safety. Certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) are at the forefront of delivering safe anesthesia care, and though primarily associated with direct patient care, their contributions in the domains of education and research have helped to transform the landscape of health care delivery.
VCU meeting the anesthesia needs in Southwest Virginia
Across the United States, there are over 100 institutions of higher learning that prepare Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs). Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Nurse Anesthesia is currently ranked as “Best in the Nation” by U.S. News & World Report, a designation it has proudly held for the last 4 years. All CRNA educational programs at a minimum grant the Masters Degree credential, as national entry to nurse anesthesia practice is currently at the graduate level. VCU is among those at the forefront now offering graduate students an optional clinical doctorate, the Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice degree.
CRNAs just as Safe as Anesthesiologists
