I would like to take the time to introduce myself to those of you who do not know me. I was just recently elected as your district director for the VANA, and want you all to know that I am excited about serving the CRNA’s in the SW Virginia area.
I attended the VANA Leadership conference this past September held in Williamsburg and was involved with some very hardworking members of our association in discussing issues relevant to your practice, as well as mine, here in Virginia.
The Government Relations Committee is hard at work dealing with pending legislation issues, and there are other committees involved with public relations helping to promote our profession statewide.
On a district level, one idea that was suggested at this meeting was for VANA to provide a tour bus to come to the SW area to pick up any CRNA’s who wish to attend the annual Fall Conference next year. We want to make it as easy and painless as possible for all to attend the conference, which will be held in Virginia Beach next fall. How much fun that would be to ride there together and not have to worry about parking or the traffic on I-81! Make plans now to attend!
I would also like to inform you all of an upcoming conference being planned in Roanoke on December 5, 2009, from 8:30 AM until 1 PM. It will be held at the Higher Education Center, as it was the last two years and will provide 4 CEU’s free of charge. Be watching for further details. I hope to meet many of you there that day.
